The Juror and Workshop Artist

Donna Zagotta , AWS, NWS

Donna Zagotta’s paintings have evolved from an early emphasis on traditional watercolor techniques and traditionally influenced realism to an unconventional use of the watercolor medium and the expiration of the area that lies between realism and it abstraction. Donna has a passion for art history with a special interest in Modernism and finds inspiration in the work of Edouard Vuillard, Henri Matisse, Richard Diebenkorn, master painters who were focused on expressing Color and spatial ideas that in rendering the particulars of subject matter.

Active professionally for more than 20 years, Donna is a nationally recognized artist, teacher, and juror. She has accumulated numerous awards and is a signature member of the American watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, and Transparent Watercolor Society of America. She recently filmed a DVD for Creative Catalyst titled ”The You Factor: Powerful, Personal Design in Opaque Watercolor”, and her work appears in numerous publications, most recently in issue 37 of them Palette Magazine and the October, 2010 Watercolor Artist Magazine feature article  titled," Altered Sensibility". Donna Zagotta has been teaching classes and workshops since 1990 and RRWS is extremely excited to welcome her as instructor and juror for his 19th National Juried Watermedia Exhibition.
